It's that time again! Episode ones are airing and Anime News Network will probably have their season previews up any minute now.

What are you excited to see this season?

admittedly i really want to watch stuff, but lack of time :(

is there a gundam 00 season 3?

Seemingly, there are a handful of shows that Hulu basically-simulcasts. I'm thinking to give the new Gundam (Iron-Blooded Orphans), One Punch Man, and World Triggers a go. I think these are all shounen or shounen-esque, but le meh.

Micro-review: The first episode of One Punch Man was violent/sometimes gory, but also very funny. Dark humor, but funny.

Hmm. Watched the first episode of One Punch Man. All you said was true. I will admit I laughed pretty hard a couple of times, but I'm not sure if it's a show I'll keep up with. Gotta give the others a go, but I'm also still trying to watch my way through the Clone Wars.

Oh, while not Japanese anime, I will definitely be watching Star Wars Rebels when season two starts next week. So good.

I rescind my "may not keep up with it" feelings from my past message. One-Punch Man, while indeed darkly humored and violent, is an excellent twist on shounen for those who've watched shounen.

And Rebels is already off to a great start this season.

Gave the first bit of the new Gundam a go. Not yet hooked. May change, but will probably check out other shows first.

I've been watching:

Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider

This dark thriller is off to a solid start and I'm very much looking forward to the latest episode. Definitely not for the kiddos and rather twisted in parts, but a good series so far for adults.

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru

It's pretty much Bones in anime form. Extremely intelligent but socially awkward female lead who nonchalantly handles grizzly corpses to solve murder mysteries. Strangely enough, this will probably be the easiest series this season to get my wife to watch with me.

World Trigger

Yes, I am still watching a shounen series 50 episodes in. I never thought I'd say that again, but I won't even apologize for it. I like the main characters that much. I keep expecting it to slow to the usual "injured turtle stuck in molasses" pace of most shounen, but I plan to keep watching until that happens.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Okay, so I admit I'm WAY late on this one (like, 8 years late), but I dropped the series 4 episodes in the first time I watched it and never felt like getting back in to it until I spotted it on Netflix and discovered, much to my pleasant surprise, that the series--like most of the new anime on Netflix--FEATURES ENGLISH SUBTITLES AND JAPANESE LANGUAGE AUDIO.

I have my reservations about the show, but I'm 10 episodes in now and don't plan on quitting. So many people recommended it through the years that I'll probably see it through to the end, even if my interest is waning following the introduction of a Mary Sue character.

Huh. I actually didn't give World Trigger a go, but if you're that sold on it, I'm going to have to change that.

I'm not gonna lie. It's comfort food anime. I just can't help but like the 2 main characters. The supporting cast is very likable, too. It's no Madoka Magica, but it's fun to watch and I haven't gotten bored with it yet. I probably will, like I did with Naruto and Bleach. If I do, I'll drop it, like I did with Naruto and Bleach.

But 50+ episodes in and still looking forward to new episodes is high praise for a shounen series.
