Are Christians offended by Comedy?

I enjoy humour that is done in good taste. I suppose good taste is a rather subjective area. Where I might find a jab at religion to be offensive another might not.

I find the Flanders' in the Simpsons to be quite humorous. I see that family as being a satirical look at misconception of a Christian family taken to the extreme. Not every Christian in Simpsons is represented that way. As a matter of fact, everybody in Springfeild goes to church. Yet in the same show, I find Itchy and Scratchy's senseless violence to be far from funny.

By the way, I think a lot of comedy involving religion is funny, because it's satirical, and you can tell a lot from it. For instance, in this (WARNING: Link contains profanity) Penny Arcade comic, the fact that Jesus uses foul language is funny.
That's the comic I mentioned before in some other thread, I thought that comic was hillarious, it made me laugh out loud. But sometimes people take that kind of thing too far, and that really bugs me. I don't mind somebody cracking a joke about God every once in a while, as long as it's respectful enough.

Jesus is almost exclusively seen as a holy Dudley Do-Right.
Would u consider Jesue to be more of a rebel, since he took a stance against the government and the jewish leaders. Thats like me going up to bush and the pope and throwing a pie in his face. He was the Micheal Moore of his time.

That comic was hilarious.
Is religious comedy offensive if the person making that joke of that religion. We always see comedians making fun of their family, cultureor religion because they write jokes based on their experiences.
It would probobly be offencive if u had a guy with a swastica making jew jokes though.

For me, not if there is something we can take away from it. For instance, if making a cartoon of Jesus using profanity is funny (and it was, in that Penny Arcade strip), then we need to ask ourselves why. In that case, it was because the popular perception of Jesus is unrealistic. On the other hand, making fun of Jesus for no reason at all, or directly attacking any religion, is uncool.

And to a certain extent, Jesus was like Michael Moore, in that few people liked Him and most people thought He was nuts. But mostly, Jesus is not like Michael Moore, for three reasons:

1. Michael Moore's message is primarily political, whereas Jesus' message was religious, and expressly non-political.

2. Michael Moore's message is in extreme conflict with Jesus' message.

3. Jesus died, and rose, for His message. Michael Moore makes money off his message, and spends it on Twinkies.

But then, this thread isn't really about comparing Michael Moore to Jesus, and we're rather off-topic now, so I don't think I'll post here again unless someone else brings up an interesting point.
