I went. I laughed (a LOT). I go home.

Srsly...

Dragon-Con != CGA-Con. We need a CGA-Con here!

I considered that...maybe if it was another year from now i could go again. We'd need a costume themed day though that all the CGA-ers go to *cough*dorkelf*cough* :D

I would love to make it, but it all depends on my school. I'm looking into it.

Well, the July 31-Aug 2nd is the date...though I don't know how schooling would interfere..unless you mean DragonCon..even though this is about CGA-Con 2 per page 1.

I go to school year-round. I'm not even sure which part of the country I'll be in at that point so it's all tentative.

I have some question I would like to ask since I would be bringing my family of 5 from Iowa.

1. What is the schedule for Fri-Sun.. what are times for any activities, are we going to have a meeting or spend time together before going into cedar point park? Are we having dinners together?
2. Are we(CG) signed up for any group discount deals (group sales) .If so is anyone staying at the hotel Breakers or did you have something else in mind. Do you have any Group Codes setup for our group to get a deal.

July 31-Aug 2 works for us

At this time, I don't believe I would be able to make it. I've been unemployed for the last 10 months, Sandusky, OH is roughly 750 miles from where I live, and I doubt my wife's schedule could accommodate that much time off (if only because every day she doesn't work is a day she doesn't get paid). Keep in mind that except for gas, all my expenses would be doubled if my wife came with me.

As much as I would love to meet other Christian gamers and hold a second CGA convention, I don't anticipate being in a place where I can afford to spend that kind of money by July or August.

EDIT: But don't postpone or cancel just because of me. If you all can organize the event and have a great time, I wish you the best. If the event goes as originally planned, maybe I could hop on Skype (with video) and deliver a short speech to everyone attending the convention.

To answer your questions (out of order)
I am working on discount deals for a group. However without knowledge of how many exactly are coming it's a little hard to do. I'm trying to get a 3-day pass set up for us, but between work, class, and office hours there, it's a little hard. I was actually planning on everyone stayin' at the hotel, if possible to get say...5 rooms in a cluster. example is that your family would be 1 room, as it's 5 people. If derk would be coming, his family would probably be 1 room. Other than families, I figure that the rooming would be then divided into males/females. Prices I'm not sure of yet, because online it wont access rates, and Like I said, I have a hard time gettin good price estimates without a set figure of people.

Schedule? Not highly definitive, although I do plan on something along the lines of:
Friday: noon-ish. Meet outside of Cedar Point, get name badges (real and CGA name) passed out, have a prayer before we all go in. Luggage I guess could be left in car, though I'd have to see about check-in times at the hotel as well. Have lunch as a group. (S'pose I could bring a massive cooler with soft drinks/water and lunchmeat/cheese/bread to make it cheaper than in-park...or there's a mcdonalds.....)

Friday around 6pm: Meet for Dinner. There is a Johnny Rocket's inside the park, as well as several other dining venues outside that would require only a short drive.
10/11pm (TBA) Meet at hotel for 'closing the day' and prayer. After this time attendees are welcome to play games amongst themselves (I'm bringing Fluxx, Munchkin Fu, and maybe a couple others)

Saturday around 8am: Wake up 'call' and morning prayer. Breakfast together.
I haven't decided on if we'd do lunch together. I'd like all members to be in at least a group of 3 (easier to find and a little safer).
Dinner would be same sched as friday, 6pm, we'd decide just where exactly we'll go. I'll get a complete dining location list soon.
10/11pm turn-in again w/ prayer along with just general fellowship.

Sunday: around 7am, wake up w/ morning prayer. 8-ish: Would like to do a small church service, but would like a volunteer to prepare a message for this. I don't think we'd have music.
Noon: meet up for lunch. After which time members may leave as they see fit. Those that would like to leave monday morning will have to see about alterante arrangements for stayin sunday night (i'd prefer them not have to pay for more hotel fees).

I hope this helps.

I will probably be in Columbus, Ohio for the entire summer, so depending on finances and work schedule, I should be able to make the 2 hour drive north at least for a day.

Ah, bummer. Scratch my last post. Turns out, I will not be in Ohio for the summer. Taking summer classes instead.

To all that are able to attend... have fun!

Slight Update...

Cedar Point is STILL being a pain to deal with in terms of gettin a solid lead on hotel rates

Regret to inform, that due to lack of interest this will have to be cancelled.

I apologize for the short notice, but there has simply not been enough interest with several punch-outs as well.

I'm starting to look at better, more affordable options for next year as well.

:(

Sad, but understandable.

The main idea I'm looking at now is called Alive Festival, somewhere in Ohio sorta near the PA border (not sure where exactly myself, so it's a lil' more east-coast friendly). It'd be a 4-day thing, and only 'bout $120 per person, as this would have been likely over $200 per person.
