Okay so I have a delima, I think I enjoy games overly too much. :D So far at the moment I have (techniquely) five games in progress that I am no where completing. I am a casual gamer so it takes me time to complete a game. So I jump from one to the other on occassions to spice things up, and when I see an AWESOME new game out I often times drull, until I have the cash to purchase. I do no over spend I simply save up for it, but any ways.

DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS "MEDICAL" CONDITION!! LOL :D hehehe

I did and the cure for me was Guild Wars :P. No seriously I am terrible at finishing games.

I am awful at finishing games. I am determined to get to lvl 60 on WoW, but then again . . . I started a new character. . . so who knows? I definately have this medical condition.

U sound like me. I also have an alt addiction never really seen what lvl 31 is like. LOL Pitful!!!! Maybe one day I will make it. I am not one of these gamers who is considered "hardcore" I do have a wife and child on the way and work and also am a elder/assitant pastor at church. So needless to say I am one of those casual gamers everyone argues over. Blah blah this blah blah that...really I just enjoy playing the game(s) so thats why I play...not just for "content". :)

I think its just your youth to be quite a addictive gamer, you have similar aspects of SilentAssassin a.k.a SLNT_FIR and many young people or similar youths.

I'm a gamer too, but just because I've played Starcraft since it was released or played Counter-Strike since version 1.3, doesn't make me an addict. I just happen to enjoy the games a lot more than others.

I finish most of my games, but not all of them.

But I wonder if you still enjoy them after you've beaten them.

I've beaten a lot of old games, and I haven't gotten the time to play all of them, just the ones more enjoyable and playable.

The only two games I bought and haven't finished are Battletoads from the NES and FFXI.

I don't count games that you can't "finish", like Madden, for example, so I set an arbitrary goal of, say, winning the Super Bowl on All-Madden level.

I made it to level 53 in FFXI, which took about a year and a half of two hours a day, and then I realized that EXP-wise I was less than halfway to level 75 (the level cap). At that point I swore off games that you had to play for two years + to be able to fully enjoy them.

And Battletoads was just HARD. By far the toughest game I ever played.

Yeah I hear where you are coming from. Believe me, I didn't mean that I was "addict" in the serious sense, I was just starting a conversation. Also, by the way I ain't a youth...cause if you missed my post earlier, I have a wife, and also a little girl on the way. I also am an associate pastor at the church where I serve. Anyways, yeah that is where I am at when it comes to the games, I find some that a enjoy while others I just REALLY enjoy and those are usually the ones I finish. I used to finish alot GC games when I was younger, but of course now life is more important so I simply enjoy games as a hobby, not anything serious.

By the way the whole addict thing was a joke.. :D

Me too brother...
But seriously Guild Wars has cured me...kinda. I still haven't beat Prophecies or Factions, and I have 6 characters going, but I have been playing for about 5 or 6 months...my record prior to GW is probably 1 month tops.

Yes, Battletoads is hard, especially; Battletoads in Battlemaniac.

The levels like riding a hockey puck, hitting bowling pins and the hoverbike, trying to dodge walls, extremely hard, fun though.

Yeah, and your only a year older than me. ;)

Well, I still have my old N-64 and Mario Kart 64. Though, I occasionally play RE:4 on my PS2.

you know what i think the only games i've ever finished are the Legend of Zelda games, because I got totally obsessed and made myself fight through the last dungeon... (even though on A Link to the Past, I was "assisted" through the last dungeon... thank you, Internet!)

Oh, I remember now, I also have Project Eden, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Splintercell: Pandora Tomorrow, and Ghost Recon under my belt...
All PS2 games x_x

On computer, almost nothing... Star Wars Battlefront II (but it was easy, so I shouldn't count it)... uhh... oh well

the point is, aside from games I've had for years or forced myself to win (or addictive ones like Windwaker *drool*) I really sort of jump around and put them up for long periods of time...
so yes, i have a short attention span like most of us do =D

that's why i can't get rich on these mmog's... i never have the patience to run out and fight things over and over hoping for a perfect drop or take people to towns for more than... maybe fifteen minutes before i decide to PvP... lol

i have played so many mmo's... started with ffxi then i moved to eq2 then i tried eq1 which lead me to lineage2 which i got bored of and moved to mxo (matrix online) which was horrible and decided to go back to ffxi (which im still playing)

ffxi i have been playing for awhile (around a year) and am lvl 60 now lvling a diff job (25 summoner now) but i do think i will eventually get my thief to lvl 75 (cap ftw)

before that i usually got rlly close to the end of a game and stopped, like ff9 i got to the last boss and quit, ff8 i never rlly got too far, ff10 i was like 80% thru then i quit. only game i can remember beating is legend of zelda ocarina of time and ff7

p.s yes i am a final fantasy addict

Guild Wars is for you Lvl Cap at 20 YAY!! I played Diablo 2 and I got up to like 50 I think and I was done.

Dude, Battletoads for the NES was insanely difficult, especially that miserable hoverbike stage.

To be comparing the games, its just from the original with an expection of the SNES has better graphics. I played it from my Sega Genesis, though I used to own both SNES and Genesis. :D

However, I haven't played much NES games since I had SNES and Genesis.

And yes, I haven't beaten the hoverbike stage. Still was enjoyable.

I remeber there was one point when I was playing Star Wars Galaxies that SOE (Sony Online Entertainment; NOT Spirit of Elijah :D ) unexpectedly changed the way experience was gained. Well, for the second time actually.

The first time was during the "Combat Upgrade," which was a total revamp of the combat system of the game and one that was met with mixed opinions (which is one of the main reasons for SWGEmu, the open source version of the game in development that brings it back to "pre-CU"), and subsequent patches of the CU. It made gaining experience a lot quicker than before and was generally not bad. One of the patches allowed you to get to level 80 (the max) in about 2 days. This was alright, because with the profession-based system, you could always give up your skills and reroll your character without having to make a brand new one. (It was a nice system overall)

Well, the change in question cut experience gains while farming to about 10% of what were. This wasn't terribly bad for a normal profession, as the experience requirements weren't bad and could be done in a couple weeks. for a Jedi though, whose experience requirements were astronomically high anyway, it would take somewhere around four years of play to get to Master Jedi. And that's if you did nothing but farm for about 10 hours a week.

Needless to say, the community was in an uproar over this sudden change, and there was a thread about 700-800 pages long flaming SOE for it.

Eventually, they changed it back and apologized (one of the few times they've done so.)
