I May Be a Tad Overzealous

I think I might be a little too motivated by exceptional gaming deals.

I just picked up both of the Monkey Island remakes for a buck a piece through iTunes' store. iPod/iPhone version is on sale for short term (iPad version is $5... which seems to be the regular price of the iPod/iPhone version). It was too good a deal.

I couldn't pass it up. I tried to talk myself out of it, but I couldn't.

Normally, I'd think of this as a great deal, that I just scored pretty well. But this time... I think I might be a little crazy. Why do I think this?

I don't own an iPod.

I aim to get one (in time for the Guild Wars 2 app release, of course... why are you all looking at me like I'm crazy?), but I don't have one.

A tad overzealous? I'd say so, considering you could just get both of them on PSN for $7.49 in hi-def.

Well it isn't exactly a 49 dollah game, but its never good to waste just cos you can afford to. If you are absolutely sure you will get the hardware, its good savings though.

I've been putting off an iPod forever. Now I just have something additional to enjoy once I finally cave and buy one.

And Ryan, you know how I am. The reason I didn't buy it on PS3 was cuz... well... I wouldn't play it any time soon. I'd have just bought it cuz it was a good deal and something to get through after pushing through the rest of my PS3 collection.

Which reminds me, I should play some Street Fighter. Haven't practiced in a few days; my callous is starting to weaken.

That reminds me of the time I was wondering whether I should buy Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo for the Gameboy Advance--before I got a GBA. My wife ended up buying the game for me on the spot then later buying me the GBA SP Retro Edition for Christmas.

And don't feel too silly. I thought about picking up a PS3 game or two when I've seen some awesome sales. I didn't, but I think that has more to do with being unemployed than exercising self-restraint or "logic."

Nope, just a brother (who, in a strange twist, likes video games less than my wife). If it's any consolation, I couldn't convince her to play Team Fortress 2, even after buying her a copy, setting up a password-protected dedicated server on our local network, and volunteering to show her the ropes.

But when it comes to puzzle games and (this part's perhaps the most bizarre) random shmups (yes, my wife has played and completed the first stage of Ikaruga), she's usually willing to check it out. First-person shooter? Not happenin'.

But I'm blessed to have a wife that at least plays some games with me. Now if Nintendo would get it through their thick skulls how awesome Soma Bringer is (Srsly, Nintendo? You bring Glory of Heracles over and neglect Soma Bringer? For shame!) and how much money they could make with perhaps the greatest co-op action RPG in history, we could play an official translation of the game.

I find no fault in this as I prefer shmups to FPS, too. ...now I need to play one. Where's my NES emulator and Xevious? Easier than wrestling the TV away from the fam to play it on Virtual Console.

Soma Bringer was developed by the same team that developed Xenogears and Xenosaga. Trust me. You need a translation.

EDIT: Puyo Puyo 15th Anniversary would make a great import, though. (There's a translation patch for it as well, but you could probably fumble your way through without being able to read Japanese text.)

If it's like the plot of Xenogears it may not help you understand it . Though the gameplay and graphics were alright.
