Intergrated or PCI video cards better?

Ok.

I have a super fast computer, personal MY PC but lacks the 'crappy' video card since its intergrated; 64MB UniChrome Video Card.

The old PC up stairs has a PCI 32MB Nvidia TNT2 Video Card, personal MINE.

I'm thinking of removing my PCI 32MB Nvidia TNT2 Video Card to my super fast computer, would that make any difference?

The Nvidia back my 'old' days worked fine on games like: Counter-Strike, Freelancer; (so-so games) Call of Duty, Battlefield 1942. I say (so-so) cause the game worked, but it was blue.

Mainly cause 32mb PCI is pretty crappy.

Now, I got a Athlon 2800+, 512 mb ram, 64mb video card......etc, etc, and whats so...lame, Call of Duty, Battlefield 1942, Halo, FarCry will not work on my PC!

SO, 32Mb PCI Nvidia TNT2 video card Versus 64Mb Intergrated UniChrome video card, WHICH WILL RULE!? I mean which will be better?

its Integrated i think.

Integrated videocards are usually put in AGP mode, instead of PCI so i think 32mb will lose, but im not sure.

The problem with your videocard 64mb not running on CoD, BF1942, Halo, and FarCry is because it doesn't support DirectX 9.0 or higher.

ATI Radeon 9600 series or higher supports DirectX 9
nVidia GeForce FX series or higher supports DirectX 9

I own a 9600 XT, as i said already and it's relatively cheap, great performance ratio of price, and amazing overclock ability also. As said again, i recommend it.

ur 32mb TnT2 won't be running Halo, FarCry and other DirectX 9 compatible games. Supposing you got it to run, it'll have a huge graphic loss (the images look horrible...) and you'll have a horrible performance too.

those games prolly dont support the chipset of your integrated video card.....you might as well save up money and buy a whole new graphics card

from my point of view, graphics cards are expensive, here.
I cant buy it on-line cause I don't trust it and I've used up all of my money to my new pc I brought.

I looking at futureshop.ca, 1 of 2 only brand name computer stores where I live!

ATI Radeon 9600XT Video Card: $299.95
600Mhz, 2.0 GigaTexels/Second

ATI All-In-Wonder 9600XT Video Card: $299.99
650Mhz, 2.1 GigaTexels/Second

What I think is ripped off from these cards, one is .1 Gigatexels and 50 Mhz faster than the other?!

This is what I want to get!

Leadtek Winfast A400 Ultra TDH 256MB GeForce Video Card: $899.99
400Mhz, 6.4 Billion Texel/sec.

That is the most expensive card in that store, if that isnt enough, I'll get the blasted better one! ARRR...

Most expensive does not always mean best.

Asus makes the best nVidia (according to me and many) and ATI's x800XT can probably destroy your chosen card. Believe me ATI won the whatever GeForce card that was brought up. x800 is half the price of ur card too.

I would say go on newegg or ebay and check out the geforce 5200 range of cards, they're cheap (around 60$) and pretty good (around 128 MB, that'll play Halo, Far Cry, and just about anything else you throw at it), I had one for a while, and it served me quite well. And almost any integrated card is pretty much useless, so I would definately get a nice PCI card.

ATI>nVidia :|

just my thought. I never held anything against nVidia until one of the gamers insulted me having a 9600 XT. IF UR OUT THERE, MY 9600XT OWNS UR 5200! PERIOD.

CorpFox, u do realise i got my Radeon 9600 XT for $149.99 US? All in wonder is a waste of money, and my my ram is running at 630, core at 550 (50+ from stock)

smile.gif

I prefer ATI to Nvidia too, I was just mentioning the 5200 because I have had experience with one, and it's a cheap and decent card.

Flash, you do realize 85%-95% of ToJ's & CGA's members are from the USA?

If 6.4 Billion Texel/sec. from Nvidia's 6800 is worser than 5.4GP/Sec. ATI's X800, then Ill take ATI's X800, but if Nvidia's is better, Nvidia's 6800 then.

PCI videocard?

You dont have a AGP slot? If you dont..get with the program dude. get a new mobo with a AGP slot...or heck, get a new custom PC!

Well, since your insulting me, FIR3, look again:

Finally too.

Specs are equal to Atown's PC.

Needs a video card tho(Intergrated).

HP
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
512 MB DDR RAm
80 gig hard drive
48x Cd-rw/16 Dvd-rom
8x Open AGP slot

for $750 Cdn. Very Cheap.

I have a 8X Open AGP slot on the 3rd slot of my 'new' pc.
I just wanted to know if having a PCI video card be better than my 'new' pc's 'crappy' intergrated video card and since I have NO MONEY; Cash, Dollars, bucks, GET IT FIR3! and other people!
mad.gif

This is the part I would swear at you, but ill see how you react first, FIR3.

ATI>nVidia now say it after me.

ATI rox!

x800pro tied with 6800 GT, and x800XT destroyed 6800 ultra with ease.

keep in mind x800 pro has 12 pipelines while 6800 GT had 16. Thats how better ATI cards are.

Fire, next time look at corp's previous posts and such before making some insults at him and his machine.

Corp, Get a cheap DirectX 9 compatible card if u can't afford a best card. If you have the cash, x800 is the way to go, but if not, 9600 and 9800 series are just as good.

well uhh its like this...

Integrated < PCI < AGP < PCI X

I have a pci, the only difference between that and the AGP is the speed in which it shares data with the other components of the computer, so If you have a PCI only motherboard it should be fine however you will have problems with Particles, Shadows and basically anything that adds alot of real-time entities.

THANK YOU, THATS A WAYT BETTER EXPLAINIOJN FOR ME!

To games like Doom 3 and Halo, yes. But I don't have any of those games, let alone have any games above plus +years.

 beep!

I figured anyways. Every freaking new pc game out now, it NEVER WORKS! Thats why I saw it again, I have a 'crappy' intergrated video card!

Try the newest drivers for your OS and onboard video.
http://www.viaarena.com/Default.aspx?PageID=2

Your onboard video is just not up to date for todays games for sure. The bare minimum anymore is 64MB video memory. But the minimum requirements cause the games to be slow and run choppy but they will run. The game makers do want to sell you their game.
check out http://www.pricegrabber.com or http://www.pricewatch.com for some current cheapest prices for your new video card. CS

I reccomend that if you get a card choose Nvidia over ATI, because Nvidia is known to be compatable with everything and ATI has compatability issues with a few games.

If you have a AGP slot get an AGP card, if you dont get a PCI slot. Also for NVidia cards youll be fine with anything with GeForce FX in the title, as its one of the newest series for ATI i dont know.
