PvP Plans

Based on WBK's thread about Q1 goals for 2006, I thought I should post a thread to discuss PvP for the upcoming weeks. Also, this is a good place to address something I have been thinking about and Vibro brought up in that thread:

Id like to get a iway team or ranger spike together

The IWAY build is often considered an easier build to play and taking less coordination. This seems like a good argument for having us try this out and build a little confidence and experience. Knowing how to play it will also give us better insight on how to counter it when we decide to play a different team build. Please look at the link above to read more about the build. If we decide to proceed with the IWAY build, we will start a new thread to discuss in more detail. The weakness for us with this build is that we don't have a lot of Warrior PvE characters in the guild, let alone the W/R's that this build requires. I am willing to build and re-build my 4th slot for PvP, but I realize that many others already have 4 lvl20 PvE characters and don't want to delete one for PvP.

Since most of us are much more comfortable playing our PvE characters in PvP, we should probably look to see what build would match our strengths. We seem to have a lot of rangers just past ascension right now. These characters would require a little bit of work to get all the appropriate skills, but I think we could manage that. Again, we'll start another thread to discuss specific skills and detailed team build when we decide to start this team.

Based on the feedback on this thread, I will start a new thread to set up our next build. I would like to target the Friday PvP night on January 27 to try out our new build in Tombs.

As for the next 2 upcoming Friday events:

This week (Jan 13) - I'm up for requests, but would suggest that we delay further GvG until we have a coordinated team put together that we are comfortable with. Other suggestions would be smaller groups in Team Arena, or simply watching and discussing matches in observer mode. It might be nice to find an IWAY or Ranger spike group to watch and try to pick up some ideas.

Next week (Jan 20) - Due to the "Guild Wars: Factions Global Free-for-All PvP Weekend" - I plan to keep plans loose. I have a feeling that many of us will want to check out some of the new content instead of a coordinated event. There may also be a new "Team Arena" type area that we can check out as a group.

Finally, a different point of view every so often should also strengthen teamwork as well as bringing up new ideas and strategies. If there is anyone who would be willing to take a turn leading a weekly PvP event or a particular team build, please let me know. This is not limited to Friday night at 10 either. If someone feels strongly about a different day and time, please let me know, I'd be happy to help coordinate other events if someone steps forward to lead the in-game event.
