No wonder im not a Chrisitian, I have NO IDEA WHAT THE BIBLE IS SAYING!

I'm hearing a...some kind...of bible verse...from...someone...and...I'm...stumped...

Don't you people get annoying for hearing a bible verse nearly hours on end?

I was hearing something about chapter 9, something about horses!?

I just relizes, the poll, the people that said "Yes", 5 people said "Yes", thats weird.
The "only you and god..." thing, I figured people would say that, but 5 people said "Yes" !?!? For hanging around with you people, you sure have no idea who/how I actual am. As for "No", I wonder who are the 2 people said that...hmm...
And "Other", I can't think of anything...now...

[edited] D'OH, I voted for "Other".

Corp I think all the Christians on these boards would love for you to become a Christian.

As for understanding the bible, it takes time. Alot of people I consider decent and good Christians are not very well versed in the bible. More over this is why we go to church so we can have someone that has done exstensive study into it (the bible) and explain it better to us.

Other things to help understand the bible, getting a bible that is user friendly, one having subtext and explanations of what certain verses mean in the bible. And Red Letter edition bibles are also very helpful.

Corp if you have any questions about the verses people quote (where to find them in the bible or what they mean) please ask.

if you do plan on reading the Bible, start with the New Testiment, the first few books of the OT talk about creation, family trees, old laws etc.

I've read the OT before. Even got a book called, "A Handbook of Concepts For Living:  A practical, easy to follow guide to the exciting adventure of joyful Christian living." Author by Bill Bright. Says in the back of the book, he is the founder and president of Campus Crusade for Christ International.

In the book includes:
How to be sure you are a Christian, How to experience God's Love and Forgiveness, to be filled with the spirit, to walk in the spirit, to witness in the spirit, to introduce others to christ, to fulfill the great commission, to love by faith, and how to pray.

My page marker stops at page...70, Perfect Sacrifice, Confession and Forgiveness, Why confess?

I'd have to say, this book had made sense to me about your Christianity, and how to become a Christian, than your hard bible. I mean hard as I cant read it.

I should read again, but its funny, I stopped reading it 5 years ago, just when I started playing Starcraft and Counter-Strike (version 1.3), shame...

Using the/this computer has really messed/fried/forgotten my mind, heh.
Especially relations towards you people, you Christians...

I'm still pondering about the poll results.
Theres 262 active members in ToJ alone, FLS is half of ToJ'ers, Tribforce - looks like a handful of people. (Well in Counter-Strike mainly)

About 80-100 members seen me play, write on this or FKoC forums, or met in a chatting place. Funny, in my wallet, I still have ToJ's old cs server: 66.150.29.215:27972.
Ever since i've been on ToJ's old server, I've gotten to know some of the people, but now, well, only a handful, heh, what a world...
Kinda surprising that they wanted me to join their clan, well actually about 5 people said that, out of what, 100 lol.
So...that leaves about 3 people out of about 150 people from ToJ, maybe. the other 112 are just the new members, maybe. And that just leaves 2 people that come to chat here every so often. WhiteStone, you joined this forum last month, you can't be one of 5. [edit] oops, sorry, I thought i joined last month...so to change it, 1 year, 1 month. CCGR, well I only met u when I said "Hi, great site you've done..." on your forum, a few years ago, heh.
MasterPlan from Starcraft.
Malohaut, just recently.
Rest mostly ToJ's. I know cause I see them on Counter-Strike and Warcraft 3 expansion.
And right after page 3, evolution, not even related to this poll! but whatever.

I'm still thinking about it..........
But since I got 1 warning below my avatar, hmm.......ok what!? I can be as rude as heck, swearing non-stop, mad, outrageous, crazy, insane like when I laugh at myself for getting killed in ToJ's #2 cs server, when I stopped laughing, someone ask me if I was alright, then I made weird voice overs, and annoying hawking. And btw, I still sin, like I said before, my sin is worser of all sins. porn lol. "You sick #######, Pervert..." So, I cant be a christian when I swear and look at porn. What next, your gonna tell me I can resist my temptations or something...
Least I ADMIT IT HERE! and in Fkoc, and with tojers, and bnet, and....and....lame, EVERYWHERE!

Corp niether of those things would prevent you from becoming a Christian. More than likely if you became a Christian, those things would work themselves out of your life.

As for dealing with temptation, God told us to flee from it. He did not tell us to confront it or endure it, but to run away from it.

that's the most ignorant statement i've ever read in my life. i'm an atheist and by no means rude at all.

is it not rude and aragonant to say that though... to claim that you have never been rude or short with anyone.

i'm not saying i have been rude. but his statement seems to imply that atheists are always rude. that's not true.

there are some good and bad atheists and the same goes for every other religion including Christianity

i know so mean atheist and there are a few cool ones aparently all the cool ones i know are from here.

Quote[/b] ]he's got a point...being a Christian shouldn't be something you casually decided to become; you've gotta be serious about it, and know what you're really committing yourself to

Does no one else see the irony in that; while religion is in large part abitrarily determined by which country or even family you're born into, polling an internet forum on the decision of Christianity is a big no-no?

Not necessarily. THe "christianity" of my parents and churches I attended in the earlier part of my life did nothing but drive me away from it due to their hypocrisy. It wasnt until years later that I began to have doubts about what I held true, evoltuion, humanism, atheism, when I actual sat back and took an object look at them. Did I become a Christian after realizing my faults in holding onto those flawed beliefs? No. At that time my beliefs were rather Deist. With those came my reading of the Bible, and after a year or two of studying, praying, and reflection, it was then I gave my life to Christ, laid down my free will, confessed and repented. About a year after that of more reading of the Bible, I finally got baptized when I realized my previous held beliefs on it that I had gotten from various churches I had attended were flawed, and even dare say heretical. Your above statement usually tends to be true for the majority of "Chirstians" that only claim to be one for the sake of tradition, family, or because it was the "cool thing to do."

No; not necessarily, and note that I said 'in large part.'

There are exceptions, but I think the general point stands. People who choose to adhere to a religion in Kansas or Texas are much more likely to choose Christianity than, say, someone living in Tehran.

And I'd say that my statement is true of both I-go-to-church-on-easter-and-celebrate-christmas-Christians, and the 'born again' variety.

And even, sadly, a lot of the "born again" variety that has grown up in some church or another is just as apostate as a lot of other so-called "Christians."  They have their traditions, and the know the Bible, but that is about it.  Just because they know, or even believe it, doesnt mean they accept or live it.  Hell, Satan knows it, but that aint saving him is it?  Ive been to my share of churches where they are supposedly "reborn" but yet the concept was never true to them, just an idea they prided themselves in and use to feel better about themselves.  True Christians, those who follow the Bible word for word, believe beyond a shadow of a doubt, and actually live their lives for Christ, with Him as there Lord and Savior, are a very, very small minority, less 10% of all "reborn" Chirstians actually do the above.  That number is off a gallup poll from a couple years back, and I know there are a few other ones that show the same results.  Sadly enough, its the way things are nowadays.  Judging a small minority based on an apostate majority is rather shallow.

Indeed; I'm familiar with the status of the general church.

Believe what beyond the shadow of a doubt?

Referring to the first half of the statement, who believe the Bible beyond a shadow of a doubt. I misse on word, it, in there, sorry.

And is there any particular place you've got this definition from? The Bible, perhaps? The distinction between true christian and fake christian seems pretty important. Does the Bible outline the specific things I need to believe 100% without question and those which I can examine, consider and question?

Yeah, its in the Bible, clear as day for those who actually care to read it all and not just selected parts that various churches/people have taught them to read only.

Since you say that these distinctions are clear as day, could post the verses / chapters from which you've derived your views on this subject? I'm not saying that these verses don't exist, nor am I daring you to post them; just geniuely interested - I haven't come across any such writings in the bible.

I agree with what you say, though. I have probably one way or another read through most of the Bible but I'm currently reading through it 'cover to cover' in an attempt to get a more holistic and cohesive view.
