Tekken 6

A couple of us talked about Tekken a little in threads here and there. I've been playing with the idea of picking it back up for quite a while (didn't love it when it first came out). Then Keero told me that he was picking it up, so I decided to do the same (on clearance at Target = no time like the present to get it).

I'm enjoying Tekken 6 more this time out than the last. Still not blown away, but I'm barely scratching the surface so far.

I do like that it seems to implement some of what Virtua Fighter has done. Namely, single player arcade mode pits you against virtual players who have win records and ranks rather than simple arcade AI. Wins result in points toward improved rank.

What can I say? It's leveling up, and I like leveling up. lol

Speaking of which, I've found a really, really helpful video series for getting into Tekken 6. The series is called "Level Up Your Game," and it's hosted on YouTube. Check it out if you get the game and want some guidance in how to play.

Be about the 27th before my Tekken 6 copy comes in, Friday/Sat for SC4. I loved using that boxer guy in Tekken 5 PSP, not sure who's a good newbie to use going back into 6. :/

27th? Pssh.

...more time for me to get ahead. :P

Steve (the boxer) is pretty cool. Definitely liking him right now. I wanna love Blade... er, Raven... but not a huge fan just yet. Gonna take work to learn him.

Well. Tek and I just played a bunch of matches. Netcode feels imperfect. Not really a surprise, but that tiny bit of perceived delay messes with my mind.

That said, fun matches. I just got done spending like... the last week of playing T6's Scenario Campaign pretty exclusively, and playing the beat-em-up is a world apart from playing the real game. I developed bad habits (so far as the main game in concerned), and had a hard time shaking them.

Bryan Fury is definitely going to be my main. May or may not level up with Steve in due time. Same with Raven. Still, I'm finding that Tekken, more than most games, does not seem very "play them all!" friendly. Looks like dedication to training with one or two characters will make a huge difference in overall winningness.

...Spellcheck has no problems with winningness. O.o

Agreed. I don't think Tekken 6 really "clicked" for me until playing against Kendrik. Until then, I spent my time thinking, "I'm mashing buttons and that's somewhat fun, but I just don't get it." Now the game makes much more sense.

A beat-em-up scenario, eh? I'll have to check that out. I love brawlers (e.g. Streets of Rage 2, River City Ransom, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, etc.) so I think I'd enjoy the Scenario Campaign.

Aye, that's what I figured. You were whoopin' with Bryan.

Agreed. I still have yet to pick a main. I had thought I'd stick with Law, but Lili had a more elegant fighting style than most other characters (without looking and sounding like a streetwalker *coughAnnacough*). Plus the President of a Christian gaming group playing as a 16-year old girl in a fighting game has an undeniable "Bwah?" factor (at least, for those who aren't familiar with my character choices in other fighting games).
