So with the election day tomorrow I thought it worth a shot injecting a bit of Christian common or, as the times seem to be, now uncommon sense. Yeah it's a bit late but I wanted to write a lot more and never got to it. Something is better than nothing though.
Firstly I am Pro-life, Pro-traditional family and Pro-Israel. I base these stances on logical and Biblical principles and, given the world is divided among them, they are often the deciding factor on who I vote for. I'm also happy to talk respectfully here with you on each on them (though my time is limited). Yes economic concerns may be more imminent but they aren't more important after all "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36. What does it matter if our country is successful and prosperous if it only uses that success for evil? I vote on principles, not feelings, not what makes you happy, not what people want, not if you can play an instrument and do a dance. Really though it's foolish that any other way of voting is even considered. Your choices matter in this life and the next.
With those things in mind don't let people just say it's "politics" it's not, it's morality. In that field Christians should have a clear answer and vote accordingly
I will speak plainly in this election Hillary is against 2 of the 3 things I mentioned above (and I question if her convictions on supporting Israel will stand). Trump "says" he'll do some good things but he says a lot of things. You don't know, cannot know, what he'll do because he's never actually held office, though we do know he once supported Hillary. I do not like either candidate, neither is a Christian, and, like most elections, it seems like choosing the lesser evil. I've often thought if forced to make a choice between an enemy and a fool it's better to choose the fool. For while the enemy would forcefully pursue evil the fool might have a chance of doing good by accident. If you can't vote for Trump I FULLY understand but please don't vote for Hillary. (Just an FYI to emphasize why this is important. If Hillary gets in she will work to legalize all the illegal immigrants. They overwhelmingly vote Democratic so the odds of ever getting people elected for the principles I mentioned go way, way down.)
Pray not only for our country but MORE importantly that people are woken up and called back to God and his righteousness. I'm sure there is a lot of criticism of the failures of democracy but really it hasn't. It's given people just what they wanted. If you have an immoral people, who vote only for themselves and their feelings, you get an immoral government. I only pray that if we must endure the consequences of sin it is not in vain, that we realize and recognize our sins and repent.
Whatever happens I get the feeling we will be kicking the ball down the road, yet again. I wonder how long we can before it all ends. I'm torn, I long for Christ's return to put things right but want him to linger to give the unsaved another chance.
