Voting: It's that time again

So with the election day tomorrow I thought it worth a shot injecting a bit of Christian common or, as the times seem to be, now uncommon sense. Yeah it's a bit late but I wanted to write a lot more and never got to it. Something is better than nothing though.

Firstly I am Pro-life, Pro-traditional family and Pro-Israel. I base these stances on logical and Biblical principles and, given the world is divided among them, they are often the deciding factor on who I vote for. I'm also happy to talk respectfully here with you on each on them (though my time is limited). Yes economic concerns may be more imminent but they aren't more important after all "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36. What does it matter if our country is successful and prosperous if it only uses that success for evil? I vote on principles, not feelings, not what makes you happy, not what people want, not if you can play an instrument and do a dance. Really though it's foolish that any other way of voting is even considered. Your choices matter in this life and the next.

With those things in mind don't let people just say it's "politics" it's not, it's morality. In that field Christians should have a clear answer and vote accordingly

I will speak plainly in this election Hillary is against 2 of the 3 things I mentioned above (and I question if her convictions on supporting Israel will stand). Trump "says" he'll do some good things but he says a lot of things. You don't know, cannot know, what he'll do because he's never actually held office, though we do know he once supported Hillary. I do not like either candidate, neither is a Christian, and, like most elections, it seems like choosing the lesser evil. I've often thought if forced to make a choice between an enemy and a fool it's better to choose the fool. For while the enemy would forcefully pursue evil the fool might have a chance of doing good by accident. If you can't vote for Trump I FULLY understand but please don't vote for Hillary. (Just an FYI to emphasize why this is important. If Hillary gets in she will work to legalize all the illegal immigrants. They overwhelmingly vote Democratic so the odds of ever getting people elected for the principles I mentioned go way, way down.)

Pray not only for our country but MORE importantly that people are woken up and called back to God and his righteousness. I'm sure there is a lot of criticism of the failures of democracy but really it hasn't. It's given people just what they wanted. If you have an immoral people, who vote only for themselves and their feelings, you get an immoral government. I only pray that if we must endure the consequences of sin it is not in vain, that we realize and recognize our sins and repent.

Whatever happens I get the feeling we will be kicking the ball down the road, yet again. I wonder how long we can before it all ends. I'm torn, I long for Christ's return to put things right but want him to linger to give the unsaved another chance.

If I may,

Admittedly, I love Trump. I've almost donated to his party, which I've never ever considered giving money to anything public sector in my life aside from school tuition.

I know Trump isn't popular in all circles.

for me its really about

1. Tax reform
2. Potential bi-partisanship
3. Trump is the only candidate who has pledged for anti-porn.
http://fightthenewdrug.org/internet...e-to-each-nominee-see-who-signed-who-refused/
3.1 This also is a big push for stopping human trafficking too.
3.2 Mostly a push for stopping child pornography .
4. I can hope that private health care will go down. As a business owner, I can't image actually having employees at this rate for another 3-5 years.
5. I think it will actually support positive welfare systems and promote prosperity in new ways.

Trump could be the best president we've ever had or he could be the worst. Thing is people running for office make lots of promises, some they keep, some they don't keep, some they mean to keep but can't and some they never intended to keep. The sayings go "talk is cheap" and "actions speak louder than words". That's why I look at a person's record to see if they've done what they say before I vote for them. Trump doesn't have one beyond "saying other things" and, while admittedly some people love him for being an outsider, I believe making someone arguably the most powerful person in the world should require vetting. You know you check to see if they are faithful in the small things before you give them the bigger ones Matthew 25:21.

Considering the alternative is definitively sinful I'd be the last one to dissuade anyone from voting for him. I just give it to people truthfully whether it's games, movies, morality or even my own faults. I don't gloss over the bad or good. It's kind of a promise I made to God and I'd never distort the truth to win.

Love him while you can Atown, and pray to God he doesn't let us down, but always love God more.

Today is the day. Not gonna shill for any candidate, just ask you to pray for your secret ballot. Many of us served that we may continue to have the right for a free vote and secret vote. Pray hard, be informed, get out and vote.

Well Trump won but if you are prone to go celebrating in the streets I highly suggest you control yourself because there is an opportunity greater than any election. Doubtless those who supported Hillary will be looking for answers and wondering why people voted the way they did. If you see them looking blue explain to them your values and why you voted the way you did. If we are to be Christians we must vote not our will, or for self, but God's will and God's will is righteousness. You don't put it on the shelf until Sunday but pray continually and live it.

50 million dead children from Roe v Wade, people being taught or forced to believe having a Father and Mother isn't important, a religion dedicated to the destruction of Christianity, and freedom, by the sword, with a tiny, Biblical promised, land at the front. Tell them what you know or more importantly who you know and why. Yes the subjects can be important but any of them could lead to Christ and that is the great opportunity.

...and please don't gloat that is neither Christian nor conducive to helping convince people of the truth. If you want to know for my part I feel relief, but given the faults of the winner, I hardly feel happy or like gloating in any way.

Again pray that this nation returns to God. As I stated before Trump is not a Christian, at best he is a wildcard and definitely needs prayer if he's to do right by God. For congress as well as "Christians" have had it before and done little. Most of all for America's people because without a change in them it will just shift back the other way next time, yet again. Every time I've seen candidates win promising good things only to change little or do worse. The status quo isn't acceptable and never should be if we aren't getting closer to God.

Yes God is in control and we should always have faith and hope in him but I don't believe God wants us to put on false smiles. Pain is pain. Christ wept for Jerusalem and sweated blood asking if the cup could be passed from him. I hardly think he smiled as he was being tortured otherwise the Bible would have said so. While I can rejoice in Christ while being in pain it's still painful to see people suffer from sin (It's not fun going through it either :p). God use the world's pain to show people the truth in Christ, Amen!

Post-election thoughts, as also seen on my Facebook and blog:

Well friends, love him or hate him, Trump seems to have taken the election. My encouragement to all is that we Americans recognize he will be our president–no more and no less. It’d be a mistake to elevate him to the savior of America, but it’d be just as much a mistake to elevate him to the great destroyer of America.

Christians: Humanity, and the church, has one Savior, and He does not share that power with anyone.

Everyone: Even with vile word and deed, and the disappointment that such can gain the support of nearly half the voting country, remember that the POTUS, for the power that comes with that position, is not all-powerful. Checks and balances still exist, and he’s still going to have to deal with pushback as every president does. The POTUS is only one cog, even if an important cog, of the American political system.

That said, I’m seeing a greatly disappointing #NotMyPresident with a massive trending streak on Twitter.

If we really care about making America great again, then we can’t just put all our chips on one person and give up if that person doesn’t make the cut (I would be cashing out now if so). Making America great again requires belief and participation in the system, and recognizing that when a majority, even a small one, does not go our way, it’s just as much the system at work as when the majority is in our favor.

Just as importantly, making America great again means fighting for the tenants of the American dream and constitution on behalf of all, whether they are like us or not. America cannot be great again if we close the dream off for those who wish to come get a chance at it, if we continue to allow racism to run rampant, if we bar entry to base needs, and so on. America that is great for one piece of the population who fits a certain mold while shoving away and mistreating everyone who doesn’t fit that mold is absolutely not a great America, and wholesale undermines the promised American dream and values.

Trump has won the presidency, yes, but the work of the civically-responsible American (and especially the civically-responsible Christian) is very far from over, regardless of whether or not he or she voted Trump. We must work from a platform of love and dedication to the well-being of all if we want America to be great again, and we must tear down our idols of greed and self-interest.

Vaya con Dios, mi amigos.

In their search for explanations I can't help but wonder how long it will be until they ascribe everything they say about Trump to everyone who voted for him, then lament America isn't SJW enough, not that many don't already do that. Without the holy spirit working on them the blinders will never come off. Reasoned principled arguments founded on scriptural backing? No, no, you are a racist, misogynist, uneducated, religious person, fulled with hate /smh .

Hey if there is a bright spot about the election I did enjoy most of the polls being wrong. So much dependency on polls, statistics and what a hand picked "expert" says. Their statements are only as accurate and truthful as the people making them. Why does any of it matter? It's like filler for a reality show more than news. As the saying goes "There are three kinds of lies: lies, darned lies, and statistics." Because I'm kind of dumb, but at least curious, I took a glance at it's origin.
Benjamin Disraeli, British Prime Minister, 1804-1881, conservative (though that didn't always mean the same thing). Highlights include: In 1878, faced with Russian victories against the Ottomans, he worked at the Congress of Berlin to obtain peace in the Balkans at terms favorable to Britain and unfavorable to Russia, its longstanding enemy. Later controversial wars in Afghanistan and South Africa undermined his public support.
There is nothing new under the sun...

Random thoughts: I found an interesting site on Islam a while back. As I look for counterpoints for accuracy I googled the site and sure enough right below it was a "site", I use the term loosely, saying the first site was wrong supported by numerous charts, statistics, and overtly technical distinctions of the word "terrorism". Oh yes most importantly it says the first site is an Islamophobic hate site. I don't think they put it in bold large enough "You don't want to be a hateful bigot now do you? Think of your self-image and what people will say!". Now, while I could do without the cartoon on the first site, it has a very direct page telling people not to be violent or hateful. Most importantly the first site is full of direct references to Muhammad's life, the role model for all Muslims, and direct references in the Koran, Hadith and Surah. You know those things called "facts" none of which are addressed on the second site even though they constitute the bulk of the first.

Random'er Thought: I'm just waiting for the cgi/cartoon series lampooning a superhero called "Social Justice Warrior". Youtube money just waiting to happen, I'm telling you.
